Upgraded Car Park
Great Western Rail (GWR), as train operating company, and Network Rail, as infrastructure provider and landowner, have reviewed carefully car parking studies undertaken for Henley, and in addition have reviewed passenger car parking requirements along the Henley branch line as a whole.
The development proposals comprise a 115-bedroom hotel with an ancillary ground floor restaurant on land currently forming part of the Network Rail station car park. The existing car parking areas at the station will be reconfigured to create a more user friendly layout.
The scheme will directly enable 12 new parking spaces to be created at Henley station. Spaces will be provided for disabled users and cycle parking will be available over and above the minimum standards.
The development will also facilitate land release to GWR for a new 55-space car park at Twyford station where station parking is currently under-supplied. In addition, the proposals will allow for the release of further land for potential future parking provision at Goring and Streatley Station, and Wargrave Station.
As a consequence, there will be an increase in parking provision across the local rail network of a minimum of 67 spaces, with this distribution better aligned to meet rail passenger demand. Full details of the car parking arrangements will be provided within a Transport Statement submitted with the planning application.
